Dartmouth students have the unique opportunity to study Russian language, Baltic and post-Soviet history & culture in the beautiful and historic capital city of Latvia – Riga.
This program is run jointly with Government. While in Riga, students will take the directors' course and explore folk, visual and literary culture of the Baltic states and Latvia in particular. The course will include a unit on post-2014 Russian culture and diaspora in Riga. Government-track students will study pressing contemporary issues including post-Soviet political systems, national security, transition to green energy and climate change. The term includes study and exploration trips to the other two Baltic countries: Lithuania and Estonia.
