The Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University sponsored the New England Regional 2025 Olympiada for Spoken Russian. Organized nationwide since the 1960s by the American Councils for International Education (ACIE), the Olympiada is an opportunity for middle and high school students of Russian to test their knowledge of the language and receive recognition for their demonstrated proficiency. The 2025 Olympiada was held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, on Harvard's Cambridge campus.
This year's topic was Music. There were 97 participants from 18 universities and colleges of New England.
Two Dartmouth students of Russian won: First place among all third year students of Russian was awarded to our student Alexander Joel '25 for his speech " Music and Ideology". Brigid O'Donnell '28, won the third place in the same category, also for her speech "Music and Ideology."
Christian Ituri '27, competed among the 1st-year students of Russian. Carolina Klearman '27 and Aidan Silvestro '27 competed among the second-year students of Russian.
